JALEN HURTS ILLUSTRATION
To enhance my graphic design, illustration, and editing skills, I am focusing on selecting images with shadows and complex shapes as my practice material. This approach allows me to explore different techniques in shading, depth, and detailing, helping me refine my ability to manipulate light and form. By working with intricate elements, I aim to improve my precision in creating dynamic compositions and develop a more nuanced understanding of color, contrast, and texture in digital illustration and photo editing.
For this exercise, I chose a picture of Jalen Hurts that features his face, offering a unique challenge to refine my skills in illustrating facial features and expressions. The image presents high-contrast shading, which will help me focus on capturing depth and the play of light across his face and clothing. Additionally, the complexity
of his attire—with multiple types and layers of clothing—provides an opportunity to work on textural differentiation and layering techniques. This study will allow me to push my illustration and editing capabilities further, particularly in managing intricate details and contrasts.
